This memoir is a deeply emotional and honest account of living through narcissistic abuse. It reveals the lasting impact of emotional manipulation, gaslighting, and conditional love in a voice that is both vulnerable and powerful. The experience shared is painful, yet courageous and validating for many.

What makes this book so powerful is its raw truth. The author shares difficult memories without dramatizing them just as they were, and that honesty creates a space for healing. It’s more than just a story; it’s a mirror for those who’ve been silenced and a light for those seeking closure.

This is an essential read for anyone affected by toxic family dynamics. It brings pain to the page, but also the strength that rises from it.

Reading this book was an emotional and eye-opening experience. From the very first page, I felt drawn into Serena Bennett’s story, as she bravely shares the pain, confusion, and emotional turmoil of growing up with a narcissistic mother.

The raw honesty in this memoir is what makes it so powerful. Serena does not hold back as she describes the manipulation, gaslighting, and deep wounds caused by toxic parenting. At times, I found myself feeling her pain, anger, and frustration—but also her incredible strength and resilience.

What I appreciated most about this book is how it is not just about suffering; it is about survival and healing. Serena’s journey is one of self-discovery, reclaiming her identity, and breaking free from the emotional chains of the past. It is an inspiring read for anyone who has experienced narcissistic abuse or struggled to heal from a painful childhood.

This book is raw, real, and deeply moving. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a story of strength, courage, and hope.

This is a challenging book to relate to if you have a had a good mother in your life. However lots of us haven’t experienced that and this is a book for you.

It’s a honest account of living with a narcissistic mother and is a deeply personal book. It offers hope to those that decide to walk away from toxic parents and shows you can move on. It’s not there to offer a solution to fix your relationship with your parent but to show that you can survive & thrive in spite of them.
